Actually, you might be surprised. I had AT&T when I lived outside of Knoxville, TN, and that was the only provider that had any kind of signal. I went to buy an iPhone in July 2008 and the AT&T salesman actually told me it would be a bad idea because I told him I had a habit of dropping my phones and/or bumping into counter corners and whatnot with my phone on my belt or in my pocket. He gave up his commission to tell me that the iPhone wasn't the phone for me, and that I'd be stuck buying a new one every time I broke one because AT&T didn't/doesn't offer insurance. He specifically told me that simply dropping the iPhone, even just on its corner, would be enough to crack the screen, and that they'd had multiple instances of that every week since the phone was released in 2007. And this was a moderately sized mall store in Saratoga, NY.
