Was thanked: 6 time(s) in 2 post(s)

I present to you a completely untouched Android
2.2 FRF84B ROM. The ONLY changes that have been made are the
replacement of some build keys in the build.prop to protect the source
and the fact that I have rooted it for you. This also
INCLUDES the official 600mhz boot.img for FRF84B that has not been leaked yet,
so now you have it!
I will also provide a fully deodexed version
as well.

Download Links:

Deodexed ROM

For those of you wanting to try out the new kernel on Bugless Beast (or
other ROMs )
without losing any features I will provide you with that as well.

F.A.Q.

Q) Where did you get these files?

A) That is none of your business, just enjoy them.

Q) Is this the same as the MyDroidWorld Exclusive?

A) Did you not read the first paragraph of the OP? This is UNTOUCHED and
INCLUDES the boot.img, so it is totally different.

Q) How is this "UNTOUCHED"?

A) I used unyaffs to extract the sbf....Google it.

Q) How can I donate to Pete?

A) I'm so glad you asked, here's the link:

Can someone please explain the difference between this deoxed file and the deoxed file released a few hours ago ????

They're both based on 84b right ???? Whats the difference ???? I read through the whole BB FAQ but it never explains the structure of builds.

This thing works great man. It is much better than any modded Froyo build I have tried, it feels as if it's the exact DROID Froyo that Google will be releasing soon!

Does anyone know if pete's scripts copyable so I can get them into the new rom so I may clear out the pre-installed apps?

i am pretty sure the difference is this one contains no tweaks, scripts or anyother beastly things pete includes. aka its virgin, just the stock rom you would see if verizon pushed it (except for the root.)

It should work, but you can always remove system apps by yourself by mounting /system as R/W and executing 'rm /system/app/[appNameHere]' commands in a terminal or through something like Root Explorer.

How do you apply a new kernel? do I need to apply boot.img first then install a kernel? I'm just wondering how I can go about applying a kernel like Chevy or ps3Droid?

boot.img is an image file (like an ISO) of the /boot partition. boot.img is a kernel. If you want to install another kernel, you would install the kernel with the 'update.zip' method with either SPRecovery or ClockworkMod Recovery. Those other kernel .zip packages just contain a boot.img file and a script on how to apply it. Does that help?

so the boot.img is just a kernel.? and chevys kernels for example are update.zips which have a boot.img too, but his also has a script in the zip to tell it where to go?

You can think of the boot.img file as a "snapshot" of the /boot partition. It contains any number of files which are directly related to the kernel (including the kernel itself). About kernel update.zip files like Chevy's, you are right on the money. If you open up a kernel update.zip style file, you will see a boot.img file and generally some WLAN drivers that the kernel references.

As far as you question as to whether you can install any Froyo kernel on this ROM, I really can't tell you 'yes' or 'no' with any confidence. I am still running BB V0.4 and haven't given either of these ROMs a run yet. Hopefully someone else can chime in and tell you whether that is going to work or not. Of course, you could always install the ROM, make a nandroid backup, install a Froyo kernel and give it a try. If it won't boot, just roll back to your nandroid backup and then you'll know. :-)

Thanks buddy for all the help. the market is finally working for me on v04, so im going to try and stick with one rom for more than just a couple days. i just left my phone alone for a couple hours and my market started working and was fast again, i guess it just needed a lot of time to sync? i got flash and hulu working. all i need to now is to fig out this hit problem and what kernel to use.

This isn't letting me install Flash.  If I go to m.adobe.com it shows me the button to download it, but then it says 'Not Found' in the Market app.  Is there another way I'm supposed to install it?

That's because Flash hasn't been released to the public yet. There are Flash betas floating around and this is what those of us who have Flash are running.
