Basically want to know which out of the two are better overall. Especially in terms of speed and features.

I have done some research myself but i would like to know how the community feels.

I'm sorry, but that is a horrible question to ask. Both are from well-respected developers and both have their flaws. You would not be making a bad decision with either of them, and honestly, the best way to find out is to just install them yourself and see what you think. In my honest opinion, I preferred Sapphire. However, that mainly had to do with the awesome way they handled bugs, the quick responses from the dev team, and just an overall "feel" for the devs. Pete's work has always done wonders for me, but I find myself straying from his work since Froyo dropped. But over both of these ROMs, I would suggest the new CyanogenMod 6 RC1. It is super-stable, snappy as hell on the default kernel, and has more features than you can shake a stick at.

Having used the most recent releases of all 3 (Sapphire 0.8.4, Cyanogen 6 RC-1, and BB 0.4), I've found Sapphire 0.8.4 to have the least issues and best performance in my daily use. Having said that, I'm always excited to see what Pete and Cyanogen are cooking (and I may even switch back to Cyanogen once the final release of CM6 is out). I recommend utilizing Koush's ClockworkMod (or your preferred recovery) to keep a backup of your most stable setup, and check out every new thing that interests you while keeping the peace of mind that you can restore your day to day setup no matter if something goes wrong.

I’ve used both and found no differences in speed or stability on my Droid with the same kernel and the same theme.  I had no problems with WiFi tethering, market downloads, etc. with either rom/kernel combination.

I have decided to stick with Sapphire because of the “seemingly” better support by the dev.  I say, “seemingly” because I made a “seat-of-the-pants” decision about that and did not really measure the support level.  It just seems that the Sapphire team responds a bit more quickly and thoroughly to support issues (YMMV!!).

I think you will like either of these great roms.

And of course - if you want a 3rd alternative, try my SS v4.5 ROM - built from source just like Sapphire - and I also believe I have the best support out there  :)

BUT as stated - I think you will have good luck with any of the ROM's out there right now - all good work!

I'm using Chevy's SS and it's ROCK solid.

The real reason I'm using it is because it supports the Storm 8 games... which to my knowledge is the only 2.2 rom that does.

I've used BB from the Eclair v.8 to the current Froyo .4, and I've been on Sapphire 1.0.0-Droid since it hit that version number about two weeks ago. First off, I'll say that both are very stable, fast froyo roms. Neither is the wrong answer.  I have, however found some differences. By default, Sapphire uses opencore to decode audio, meaning that Pandora won't revert to low quality while streaming over 3G the way it does in (most) other Froyo roms. BB, on the other hand has such good ad-blocking that I didn't realize how many annoying ads were in my apps until I switched to Saph. And finally, BB will sometimes feel snappier because of how aggressively the memory management is set, but it can cause issues by killing some apps that work in the background without a persistent notification (gmote streaming to phone is a good example).

Hope this has been helpful.

Of the two, I preferred sapphire... but I have stuck with lithium mod since loading it a while ago.  It's the fastest, smoothest rom I've loaded yet.
