Great tool, it worked great!

Any ideas why the phone would lag really bad after installing it? It feels like the CPU is pegged or something.

Yeah that happens with "long root" too. Just restart your phone. It takes some time but I promise it doesn't stay like that.

Yep, that's just what I did and all's good now. You have a donation link?

I am going to be putting one up soon. Glad you like it.

Mine is doing the same thing I have tried to do it both ways and it just hangs on the superuser.apk

This program automatically deletes Superuser.apk and everything else that was put on your phone to root it.

No matter what i do, i cannot get the superuser removed. i finally got it unroot. i root the first long way. but it still will not remove the icon. I pretty sure i have rooted and unrooted 6 times already. the first 4 wouldnt even remove su permissions. After i rooted and rebooted it worked. but still will not remove the superuser icon.

This has happened to me before. If you say you're 'unrooted', run adb shell and do a ls /system/app and see if Superuser.apk is still there. If it isn't but your icon is still there, I would do a phone reset. NOT FACTORY. Make sure you didn't uninstall anything important in /system/app or you WILL BRICK your phone.

Ok So i looked into the astro file manager which can access the system/app directory. The superuser.apk is there. I did a phone reset and a factory reset. I am just testing the unrooting because this phone is getting sent back i just got my new one today. For me and my warrenty and for future users sake. If deleting the superuser.apk out of the system/app directory will not harm anything can i just do that?

Yeah you can delete Superuser.apk /system/bin/su /system/bin/busybox and you should be fine. Altho the Library of Congress apparently just stated that no one can get prosecuted for rooting their devices.

http://www.androidcentra...emption&style=normal

Run these commands in adb shell: the ninja will ask you for permission to do each one, until you delete Superuser.apk

su -c 'rm /system/bin/rootshell'

su -c 'rm /system/bin/busybox'

su -c 'rm /system/app/Superuser.apk'

su -c 'rm /system/bin/su'

Also delete the same files on your /sdcard/

also, when i go to pc mode it says "installing motorola drivers for droidx" WTF?

That means adb can't find your DroidX. Go to the drivers folder and install Moto_32bit or Moto_64 bit depending on your system. Restart and then try.
i uninstalled my old superuser and now it worked great job guy!

No. Extract anywhere on Windows and run DroidXRoot.exe

Hi, I'm having some trouble. I run the program, and it says that root is successful, but nothing pops up on my phone? What am I doing wrong? I'm on Win 7 64bit. Thanks.

If it says root successful then you should be set. Is there a Superuser app in your app locker?

Able to get this to work no problem. Using windows 7 32-bit. Had to put phone in charge only mode. Otherwise it worked like a charm. Thanks for the nice gui. I rooted with the long method, had a different problem with the phone and had to update from sd card which unrooted it. I appreciated not having to go through that process again.

Any thoughts?

By the way, what is "PC Mode"?  I have it in USB Debugging mode, but I don't se PC Mode... (sorry, I've just moved to DroidX from a BlackBerry...

Thanks for all the responses. I would just like you all to know that I am working on a solution for Windows XP and a Mac and Linux version are in the works. Expect something sooner than later :)

If you can get to the Superuser Permissions app, then you are rooted.

My only concern before I use this program to root is... if I root now, will I be able to legitimately install the 2.2 update when Verizon pushes it out over the air (in August)?

If "no", then what will be the course of action?

If "yes", then when I update and reboot, will I still be rooted or will the update undo it?

Make sure you extracted the zip folder to somewhere on your computer. It won't work if you don't extract the files.

Your directions are not complete. I was able to get the phone rooted. I installed drivers on windows 7 machine and put phone into usb mode. I received a root successful message. I then checked for the superuser app but no go. I then browsed the sd card and clicked on superuser.apk and selected install. All done, installed a few apps that require root and everything works great, thanks a whole bunch!

well technically i was in the same predicament u have to delete the original root and then use this one!

Yeah you can delete Superuser.apk /system/bin/su /system/bin/busybox and you should be fine. Altho the Library of Congress apparently just stated that no one can get prosecuted for rooting their devices.

Problem that I don't know anyone has run into.  I installed 604.  When I did, I had to reroot.  But it did not work.  Titanium Backup says it is not rooted.  I can see the SuperUser icon.  Nothing is working in it.  Tried unrooting and then rerooting, with no luck.  What gives.  By the way, when I unroot, everything remains, superuser, all other files associated with it, etc.  Thanks!

I'm new to rooting and Android, so I was hoping someone would help me out?

I ran everything and it says my root attempt was successful. I DO have Superuser Permissions installed on my phone. However, I can't seem to figure out how to un-install native bloatware apps off my phone. It doesn't give me the option to do so with apps like "Kindle for Android", for example. Any ideas why?
