ONLY FOR 2.1 devices. A 2.2 will be released shortly.

You need root for this, and if you do not know what you are doing, its best to probably wait for installable theme zip after the bootloader is cracked.

Here is a request:

White Text (Dark_Side.zip)

Red Text (Dark_Red.zip)

Green Text (Dark_Green.zip)

White Text

Photobucket

Red Text

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Green Text

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Here is v0.2:

Install:

Extract the zip file.

Copy the two files to the root of your SDcard. Then use adb shell or terminal emulator:

su
mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system
cp /sdcard/services.jar /system/framework
cp /sdcard/framework-res.apk /system/framework
mount -o ro,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system
reboot

Your phone will take a little longer to boot the first time.

Be sure to make a backup of your original framework-res.apk and services.jar files

Do this at your own risk as it could brick your phone. I take no responsibility if this damages your phone.

File Attachment(s):
Dark_Side.zip (2,777kb) downloaded 160 time(s).
Dark_Red.zip (2,778kb) downloaded 85 time(s).
Dark_Green.zip (2,778kb) downloaded 24 time(s).

Did you try the other theme mod on this forum? If you did, did that work for you? This works great on my Droid X. How are you going about installing it?

You can boot into your phone right? The status bar changed? The framework-res.apk has the dark status bar and the white clock and date. The services.jar includes the white notification. Did anything change?

I still can't get it to take.

When I type the first command it replies with:

mount [-r] [-w] [-o options] [-t type] device directory

Type in the second command it replies with:

cp: /system/framework/services.jar: read-only file system

Type in third command, same reply

Fourth command, same reply as first.

What am I missing here? I made sure everything was typed exactly as it should be.

are you rooted? try copying and pasting the commands in from this page. Its saying that you are not mounting the system directory, which is what you need to do. No one else is having problems, so try to make sure you are rooted and are putting in the precise commands.

Yes, I am rooted. After taking your advice I copied/pasted and it fixed the issue. I was certain I typed everything correctly but apparently I made a mistake somewhere. Thank you for your help. The theme looks great!

***Edit: After rebooting I realized my visual voicemail is no longer working...any ideas?

Pretty sure that has nothing to do with this theme. My Vvm is working fine. Did you rename the file?

I apologize if I sounded as though I was blaming you. I wasn't, just trying to figure out if there was something that could have caused VVM to stop working or if the system was possibly down. No, I didn't rename the file and everything was copied/pasted exactly from your original post.

Please forgive my ignorance with the Droid OS, I just switched over from the iPhone world after 3 years of modding iDevices so I am still learning as I go.

No, I didn't take it like that lol. My theme doesn't touch applications at all so it couldn't have done anything to it. We welcome you with open arms.
