When you place it in the "..." does it give you file properties?

Close RSDlite, make sure to follow soundcolor's tutorial to assure that RSDlite has been flashed with the patch. Re-open RSDlite. If that doesn't work someone else will need to help as that is as far as I can help on this one.

I wonder why I'm not getting that, what exactly are you guys doing with "the gift" zip, I must be doing something wrong, when I followed his instructions and made a folder the RSD wouldn't find the sbf file in the folder, I tried just putting the file on the desktop but still no properties.

I know this is likely redundant, but did you make sure the file moved over to the new folder? If I read your post correctly it sounds as though the file isn't there. Try unzipping another copy and see if that works. It's possible the file is corrupt.

Sorry it took so long, I was uploading the file. It's a 439MB file, it's impossible to PM it to you. Download it below: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=920PUWAO

For those that are having problems I spent a good couple of hours trying to duplicate your errors so I could tell ya how to fix it. So here goes There are three reasons this wont work 1. Your phone is not being recognized. Fixes, Make sure that your phone has installed its own drivers, usb debgging has been enabled and that you have it set to usb mass storage mode. Make sure you have installed the proper 32 bit or 64 bit drivers. 2, the start button will not light up This is because either you haven't selected the right sbf file, or its not reading your phone If its not reading your phone see step one, otherwise be sure you have selected the correct sbf file and thy it shows in the box beside the "..." 3, fails to execute. Doesn't matter which stage it fails at, its al the same reason Patch the correct flash ini file

ok, so i did this and i never went into the boot loop. my phone rebooted when connected to RSD and i got a message saying to manually powerup the phone (which was already on), so i rebooted again. the thing is, all the stock apps i deleted are back on, but everything i had on the phone was still there. all my apps, my icons, my custom bootscreen. i did have to reactivate, though. should i be concerned about this? i've decided not to install the leak, but just wanted to be ready for the ota sooner rather than later. does the fact it didn't completely restore my phone to factory settings matter? would it be recommended that i wiped data when that time came?

Ok gents (ladies). I followed every step. I get the point where I put the phone in bootloader mode (screen shows "Bootloader 30.01 Battery Ok Ok to Program...). I hook the phone up to the PC using the USB cable. The PC shows the flash drivers are being installed. I wait the 10 seconds and hit Start. Nothing happens. No progress bar shows up, nothing. What am I doing wrong. I've tried doing this from my laptop (Vista 64) and my desk top (Vista 32). I get the same results each time.
Bobby
EDIT: I changed setting in the DeviceID option to "First come..." I then unplugged the phone for about 30 seconds. Restarted RSD Lite, reconnected the phone, and clicked start after 10 Sec wait. It started the update process and went smoothly.

Previous post message deleted and replaced:
I apologize for the previous post and for being such a noob! Quite by accident I finally figured out what the instructions were saying.
I am in the process of completing the instructions. I have pressed 'Start' and waiting for it to finish this step.
I appreciate everyone's patience and understanding.

i also would like to know what exactly the flashing with the sbf is supposed to do....i was under the impression that it erased everything and totally reflashed the phone back to stock...i was messing with some stuff since i knew i was going to sbf anyways and once it got to the point where the screen was black but lit up...and all the hard keys were lit up...i couldnt turn it off or do anything.....so i pulled the battery...flashed the sbf (it worked prefect) and when the phone started up i had to activate again...but every single app/setting i had was still there...i know i can do i factory reset...i went into recovery after and did it that way...but isnt the sbf supposed to erase everything and make it all stock 2.1.....anyone who knows please let me know what its supposed to actually do..thanks

soundcolor wrote:Step 18: Wait for a while.... A long while.... A really long while..... RSDLite will flash the correct files into your phone. It will then attempt to reboot the phone... It wont, dont worry. RSDLite will tell you to manually reboot the phone. Go ahead and give it a shot. It wont do it. It gets stuck in a perpetual Load.... going from Droid to the eye and back...
Step 19: Do a battery pull
Step 20: Reinsert the battery Now, hold down the home button, and the power button to get main bootloader screen, scroll down using the volume down button to "Reset data/Factory wipe" Push the camera button one time, Then scroll down to Yes Let the phone completely wipe,
Step 21: Once done, Select the Reboot phone option. Let the phone reboot. Once its done, and comes up to the green android/activation screen.. touch each corner from the top left, top right, bottom right, then bottom left. Its going to try to backup... Its going to fail. select cancel, then skip now. wait for the phoen to finish loading up. Once at the home screen, click the phone icon, then enter *22890 Then click the call button. let the phone activate. Then sign into your gmail account... dude... i love you... in a total non-gay way of course. LOL. you saved my phone big time. the other instructions stopped there at 17 (well... part of 18 i guess). when my phone bootlooped again, i thought i was screwed until i found your post. thanks a ton. seriously.

cbolyard,
Read post #40. I got it to work by switching the DeviceID setting to "First come..." Then I unhooked the device and reconnected. It worked after that.

So if i upgraded to 2.2 (which unrooted me) how can i keep all of my data and apps when i switch back? I do have Titanium Backup running but I cannot access it due to the loss of root. If i go back to 2.1 using this, then re-root and re-install titanium backup will i be able to restore from one of the titanium backup files on my sdcard? Or how is everyone else doing this?
