For those concerned about losing Swype, it can be restored... Just not through Titanium Backup. I'm not at all certain why that is, but I don't think it's the fault of the ROM.

I restored mine by simply copying the Swype.apk from my stock 2.2 ROM, then just used Root Explorer to put it back in the /system/app folder in FlyX. Installed it from there, went to Settings -> Language and Keyboard, enabled the checkbox for Swype and voila, I was able to select it as my input method.

Kinda requires that you make a copy of your original Swype, though...

Thanks for this.

Search button doesn't work. Google search widget doesn't work. Music player on lockscreen displays gibberish.

There is really no point in flashing this rom. Its not gonna really give you anything. Atleast right now wait till something better comes out.

I just wanted to thank the birdman and give props for the hard work and all you are doing for the X. I hope you don't get discouraged by people's negative comments about the rom. Remember this- Henry Ford started with the model T and now we have the Ferrari. Maybe this is your model T, but Ferrari is in the pike. Thanks for this rom and I am looking forward to future releases.

Same issues as everyone else. Rom actually runs slower than stock 2.2 with bloat removed.

I was able to backup what I had done on flyX, and then load the recovery image I made before loading flyX.

You probably have your X connected to a computer or some other USB interface.  This would cause the SD card to not be mounted for use.

My X does seem to be running noticeably smoother on this ROM, but the lack of a usable search button when on my homescreens is a bit irritating I understand that it's a minor thing, as I can still use the button when in a program, but being able to search my phone for whatever from wherever is a feature that I do enjoy having.

So yeah... Seems to be fine otherwise, just that one minor annoyance so far. :)

So for those of us that are running the copy of Froyo that is already deodexed/rooted and have removed the bloatware, what is the advantage of this ROM other than the fact that it has bloatware removed and no boot animation?

I know this is an RC, but looks like the problems people are experiencing with this right now far outweigh the pros.

Would you care to share some light on this Birdman?

I rooted and installed clockwork mod recovery...

Instead of upgrading using the update.zip i used Rom Manager to update to 2.2 (wipe/cache)

Now, Rom Manager cannot boot into recovery, and I cannot install FlyX (it just reboots to the motorola boot logo).

If i pull the battery it boots back into 2.2.

Should i SBF and not use rom manager to upgrade to 2.2?

Cannot even restore my backup sdcard unavailable now?? WTF

I used to get this error while trying to restore backups.  I re-downloaded bootstrap to resolve the issue.  I don't know if this applies to you, however, if you're using clockwordmod to do your backup.  Still, I would recommend re-installing koush's bootstrap and/or clockworkmod, then seeing if the error persists.

Else I suppose you could try a different sdcard...

Just to confirm, your error states the sdcard is busy, no?

Also, in response to people saying what this rom is good for....I really think "nothing" is the answer - this ROM is simply an exercise to show that it CAN be done.  My quadrant score running this ROM was a measly 847 - that's slower than out of the box DX

Also note it's a .1 release version....

Whether I select it from ROM Manager or boot to recovery via the Bootstrap app, I always get the same error when trying to install this update:

Preparing to install ROM...

E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0p1)

(Device or resource busy)

Can't mount /sdcard

I am running the 2.2 update from ROM manager, I wiped data/cache, I have successfully done stuff in this recovery. I tried reflashing recovery but that did not seem to help. Also tried re-installing the Bootstrap as some recommended.. Any thoughts?

Alright so the same as everyone else... I am having the Search button issue as well. My other bug that I am having and am not sure if anyone else is, but HDMI Out no longer functions and I am unable to watch movies on my HDTV any longer. Before it would give you the controls on the X and play the movie on the HDTV but now anytime I try to start a movie while either in the dock or directly connected with an HDMI cable it only plays the movie on the Droid X screen. Can anyone else test this as well. Thanks in advance Birdman... this is definitely faster.

Anyone getting the

Can't mount /sdcard error

Uninstall bootstrap

Then go back to market search bootstrap and download.

Once I did this it worked fine.

I got a 1400 quadrant when I installed FlyX.  It's about the same as stock 2.2 though but it's nowhere near 847.

Ok, I was uninstalling/reinstalling the free one downloaded from Koush's site. It turns out the one in the market has been updated. I bought it and when using this updated Bootstrapper, my recovery got updated to a newer version and the install of FlyX worked! Thanks.

Yes, if you followed the instructions, you wiped all of this before you installed FlyX.  It's supposed to be that way.

you can also go to the website and download the newest version of bootstrap.

took me forever to figure that one out when i bootlooped messing with services.jar and my backup wouldnt load.

had to sbf and sort it all out lol.

believe the old version of bootstrap wont create a md5 file on 2.2 which basically fubars you after you update if your not aware of it.

It says at the bottom of the instructions that it would probably reinstall your apps.

This did not happen for me.

I just wanted to say thank you for putting this Rom out. To the b*tches crying about this or that I have something for you. Until you put out a decent Rom, IE contribute anything! STFU!

What is this? Those who cannot do ... complain? You want a faster quadrant score? Build a f*cking faster Rom yourself. People contributed time and energy to put downloads up for the community do so with little sleep and money. This is so bug can be posted to be squashed out, by the very same people you're whining at. End Rant!

By the way the [Bug] I'm posting about is the babies complaining. [I hope it works itself out]

thanks a lot Birdman! Mine installed perfectly with no problems what so ever and most of my apps restored as soon as i logged into my gmail. Only bug i've found so far is when using Latitude and trying to do street view it gives me "no application found to handle google.streetview." Streetview works just fine in the Google Navigation but not in latitude. Nor can i enable walking mode while in street view in navigation to turn the camera.

When you uninstalled and reinstalled bootstrap, did you re-download the .apk from koush's site?  I did and it resolved the issue.  If you've already done that, reformat your sdcard or use a new one.

When I choose the Flyx Rom in Rom Manger and after clicking on wipe data and backup data, when it asks to reboot into recovery nothing happens at all. I also have Droid X Bootstrapper and when I click on bootstrap recobery, it says successful but when I click on REboot recovery nothing happens. Not sure what to do. I deleted my cache in Rom Manger and that didnt help. Not sure where to go from here. Any advice would be great!
