Have a Galaxy S series phone (i.e. AT&T Captivate, Sprint Epic
4G, T-Mobile Vibrant, or Verizon Fascinate)? Would you like to have
Flash on your phone ahead of the Android v2.2 (Froyo) update?  Guess
what? Now you can.  It's incredibly easy to do, and the best part is
that it doesn't require any special permissions (i.e. Root).

It should be noted that we have not tested this on all variants of
the Galaxy S.  However, it's such a simple process, that it's probably
worth giving a shot.  We did confirm that it works great on the Sprint
Epic 4G, even after yesterday's minor software update.

To install Flash 10.1 on your Galaxy S phone, here is all you have to do:

  1. Download the .APK file from our files area here.

  2. Transfer the file to your SD care via USB cable or using Dropbox.

  3. If you used a USB cable to copy the file over, you'll need to have a file manager such as ASTRO
installed.  Disconnect your phone from your PC and then open up ASTRO.
Browse to where you saved the file on your SD card, and then tap it.
     This should launch the installer.

  4. If you used Dropbox to move the file, then the installer should run
automatically as soon as the file has transferred to your device.

  5. Once installation is complete, reboot your phone.

  6. After reboot, go in to your favorite web browser and hit up a web
site that you know has flash content.  If you aren't sure of any, you
can try www.newgrounds.com  They have a vast number of Flash-based
    games.

A couple of things to note.

First, your performance results with any given Flash-enabled web site
may vary.  Remember, part of the reason Flash isn't included with
Android until v2.2 is due to the considerable speed increases you get
with Froyo.

Second, while we haven't tested this .APK on other non-Galaxy S
phones, it may work.  However, remember that you do so at your own risk.
Also, I would not recommend trying it on any phone that does not have a
1GHz processor in it because of the aforementioned performance issues
with Android 2.1.

Have fun!!
